Hi Doug how are you ?

Since last time you’ve heard from me the first week I was super busy even though I called the Mohamed that Salah provided me his number with but he did not answer my 2 calls, I supposed not many people will answer unknown phone numbers.

Then, I was out of an internet service till yesterday I do not know but we ran out of our monthly allowance and that has only happened to me only twice in 4 years. They raised the monthly allowance (after a public protest) from 7 to 10 Gig but I’m not convinced since I have just chucked my balance and it is only 7 G and 269 M , which means we have spent almost 3 Gigs in less than 2 days. Almost impossible for only 2 users who download almost nothing and would normally spend that in a whole week.

I will go back to Salah and ask him to arrange a meeting with one or the 2 of your friends since they work very close that café.

There are many distractions to progress here due to the unbelievable weakness of the government .

I saw the whole thing coming but also see that this is only a distraction since the 2 cities that really matter to cause trouble for the country if they had these problems are Tripoli and Benghazi. In Tripoli and Benghazi there are almost no population factions since everybody came from another place so long ago so no one has the numbers to control the city for themselves.

In Tripoli, people are fed up with the undesirables who rode the wave of liberation, came to Tripoli and have never left since. They still occupy some vital parts of it such as the airport but not for long since many now are calling for their ouster. They misunderstood tolerance by the residents for weakness and now have made the whole country look bad.

Still, many blame the unelected government and are asking it to deal with these law breakers.

Like I said, this is only a distraction for a rapid progress but has no long term effect on the country for the demographic composition of the country I explained above.

I will get back to you after I go to see Salah.

Good morning Doug:

Just like I promised, I did go to the old city and were able to find Mr. Salah “Hope”.

I sat with him and other people for about 20 minutes, none of the other guys you mentioned were there but he gave me Mohamed Abou Khrais’s cell number.

Salah said he does not have an internet service and, he was very happy to hear from you and sends you his best regards and wishes.

As I understand, Mohamed lived in Oregon and California but I would not have known that since I hardly was in contact with any Arabic speaking people I was in the US.

I will contact him and give him your message.

Thank you

Mahmoud

Good afternoon Doug:

I hope that all is O.K with you.

I'll definitely go there my self to see if I can find them.

I will try that either on Wed or Thur this week. I live very close to the Mahari /Raddison hotel so the old city is not that far from me.

I have not been in that area for a while so there goes an excuse to go there since I like being in the "out of our ERA" feel the place gives me.

I hope to see those Hope's fans, who knows, I might get a " one liner" or two out of them (chuckling).

  See, you

Mahmoud

Hi Doug:

Thanks for the advice.

While like I care for the little guy, the citizen, I have no affinity for politicians anywhere, I abhor the breed, have never, do not, and never will vote for one.

I do care about people everywhere and, every place I'm at, giving all I have to do my job in an honest and a professional manner gives me the ultimate satisfaction.

As someone who does not believe in coincidences and chances, I take nothing for granted but all indicators and variables point that the future in Libya will be bright and faster than most people expect.

Hi Doug:

The announcement two days ago by few thousands in the east, were met by hundreds of thousands (easily one million overall) today in both Tripoli and Benghazi.

Those in Benghazi were more harsh towards those who called for federalism and I do not think the issue will be revisited again, not that it was even possible to happen in Libya, but I think those who called for it were frustrated by the slow pace of reforms and stability that everyone expected to happen very quick.

I'm not a betting person, but the chances of federalism happening in Libya is less than Herman Cain's wining the presidency this year and, you can bet on it.

One thing that the Libyan society has that most of the other Arab states lack is that it's very homogenous thus the reason for the success in getting rid of Gaddafi, as oppose to the most of the gulf countries or Syria that are ethnically fragmented and are too geopolitical complicated to deal with.

Hello Mr. Yates, greetings from Tripoli:

Nice to hear that you have already been to Libya concerning the rebuilding phase.

I will see if there's someone to share the space with.

By the way, I'm from Tripoli but most likely more familiar with LA since I have lived there longer. Last time I was there Feb 2010.

As soon as things settle down, there should be great business opportunities here for all.

I'll keep in touch.

Thanks

Mahmoud
